Waking Dog Haik-rooooo

Every morning at about 4:45 a.m., Gracie will jump onto our bed and lie between Anne and I, often putting her head on my chest waiting for me to be roused from my sleep. Most times I am awoken, if not by a little whining, by her head on my sternum and the feeling of Gracie's breathe on my chin, her tail beating against my leg. I guess Anne, just knows by now that I'll get up. It's kind of my thing.

I reckon Gracie is a better poet than I, if one's life can be a poem... simple, satisfying, in the moment... but I can't help writing a crappy haiku, or in this case, a canine one, haik-roo:
warm hairy breathes,
tail wagging against my leg--
get up, let's pee!

Woof-woof!
